2006, Nat Herreshoff / Brion Rieff Classic Daysailor
Designed by Nat Herreshoff in 1914 the SADIE design is an evolution of his earlier ALERION sloop but a design that incorporated more ballast weight, 4” more beam and additional flare in the forward topsides. These changes provided the desired effects in that the newer SADIE design proved to be a stiffer sailing boat capable of easy sailing into higher wind ranges and a dryer boat when beating to windward in a choppy sea.
ANNIE (built in 2006 by Brion Rieff Boat Builder) has all the improved sailing characteristics and head-turning good looks one associates with the SADIE design while (in the spirit of design evolution) incorporating a marconi-rigged mainsail, main sail lazy-jacks and roller-furling / self-tacking jib making ANNIE quick to get underway, a joy to sail and easy to put to rest at the end of a perfect sailing day.
