2020, Shoal Draft Lobster / Picnic Boat, 29’
This design by Brooklin Maine’s Doug Hylan was purposed for the client who wanted a classic looking and quiet power boat that could slip thru the Low Country of South Carolina and Georgia and allow him to pursue his passions of bird watching, fishing and kayaking. Also on the design check list was that when not in stealth mode the boat should be able to produce a good turn of speed without consuming much in the way of fuel. Finally this boat should be both open to the world around her while at the same time have enough in the way of shelter to find respite from the elements when needed and a good berth for the night when the sun goes down. The Marsh Hen design provides “all of the above” and maybe a bit more for the boater who’s learned that thoughtful simplicity has great merit, and that you don’t need every little thing to have more than enough.
