This boat was purchased sight unseen by a client who had already had a very succesful restoration experience with Brooklin Boat Yard (that being the total restoration of KATRINKA).
While not always advisable to purchase a boat without even seeing it the client figured VIXEN had to be in at least okay shape as she had recently taken part in the Uffa Fox Challenge Race from England to Sweden.
Sitting in Sweden, VIXEN was packed into a shipping container and arrived here at Brooklin Boat Yard in late July 2011 with just enough time to get her rigged & launched for the Maine Classic Yacht Regattas & Eggemoggin Reach Regatta.
As of this writing almost all of VIXEN‘s frames have been replaced and replanking (where needed) is soon to be underway. Her decks will be replaced and a new house will be constructed.
Along with all this, her running rigging layout will be modified so that most of her halyards & sail shape control lines will be lead under deck.
Plans are for VIXEN to be sailing this summer and possibly racing again in the ERR.
