Dovekie 1974
Dovekie
Dovekie is a 42’ ketch built at Brooklin Boat Yard in 1974 for Marge and Dennison Bancroft of Brooksville. The Bancrofts lived aboard her for a few years following Professor Bancroft’s retirement from Colby College and made a transatlantic passage shortly after launching.
David (Bud) McIntosh prepared Dovekie's basic design (lines and sailplan) and Joel developed the arrangement, construction, and detail drawings.
Although long gone from Brooklin, Dovekie is spotted occasionally at other Atlantic and Caribbean ports including Antigua, and has made at least one additional transatlantic passage with subsequent owners at her helm. She's proven to be a comfortable and seakindly offshore as well as coastal cruiser.
