Carvel planking

Copper riveted Mahogany planking over English Oak frames

Every third (3rd) frame double sawn English Oak then two (2) steam bent English Oak frames .

Backbone and other framing mix of oak and larch.

10,000 lb Iron ballast keel (removed, re-bedded and all new forged wrought iron bolts 2016).

Decks and Cabin Tops: Originally canvas covered fir planks, were redone in 2004 with 6mm ply and

Dynel cloth set in epoxy with painted finish and refinished / repainted in April of 2020.

Pilothouse varnished teak.

New toe rails, boom gallows, lifelines w/ semi-custom bronze stanchions, steering consoles and much more. Interior was

extensively remodeled to be more open and comfortable.

Interior Layout

Raised pilot house between fore and aft cabins

Forward cabin area houses galley, primary head area (with separate stall shower), dining area and sleeping

accommodations for two persons in a V-berth configuration.

Aft cabin gives access to spacious engine and mechanicals room along with ships electrical system controls.

Furthest aft is the owner’s stateroom and head area with athwartships double berth

Auxiliary Propulsion and Fuel Systems

Ford Lehman 120hp diesel (1800 hours since remanufacture).

Engine overhauled by Long Cove Marine 2023: head planed, valves cleaned and adjusted, injectors, compression tested etc.

ZF Hurth 2.57:1 reduction, cv shaft to Python Drive thrust bearing (replaced 7/23) to 2.25” bronze

shaft, to 30” x 24 pitch 3 blade prop.

CV shaft replaced 2018.

Prop balanced 2020.

Shaft trued at Billings Diesel 2023 and new cutlass bearing installed.

Economical cruise speed 6 kts at 1100 rpm approx. 1.25 +/- gal/hr.

Max speed approx. 8kts.

New exhaust elbow January 2021.

Many spares aboard including new starter, fuel and water pumps etc.

Walk in engine room with workbench and storage

280 Gallons of fuel in two (2) aluminum tanks port and starboard with 25 gallon day tank.

Dual Raycor fuel filter system so fuel is filtered before day tank and can be filtered back and forth between main tanks.

Designed by Frederick Parker and built by EF Elkins Boat Builders of Christchurch, England in 1952 Bellina (under her current ownership) has been extremely well taken care of and thoughtfully upgraded to the point where new ownership will have little to do other than step aboard before heading off for the adventures of their new life on the water.

Staysail ketch rig configuration

Old growth Douglas Fir main and mizzen masts (New 1985).

Masts stripped, refinished and all hardware rebedded in April of 2020.

Masts sanded and two coats of varnish applied in June of 2022.

Main and mizzen booms are of Sitka Spruce and believed to be original

Douglas fir staysail boom new in 2005.

Rig hardware continuously upgraded.

All standing rigging replaced (utilizing StaLoc terminals) in 2005.

Running rigging replaced 2015.

New aluminum tabernacles 2005 and re-powder coated in 2017.
