July’s Spotlight on Innovation- A Captain’s Dream

“This engine room is a captain’s dream!” Greg, captain of Djinn

Engine rooms are a lot like basements; they’re not all created equally and almost always, there’s not enough space. This can make life difficult when a captain needs access.

The engine room in Djinn is arguably the most modern thing about this newly restored boat. Not only is there enough room to stand (7’ clearance!), there’s room enough for one or two people plus a toolbox and more. You can even do your laundry while you’re assessing the condition of your engine!

Greg, the captain of Djinn, worked tirelessly with BBY mechanics to oversee many of the details that make this engine room so accommodating. Brian Larkin says, “There was a lot of thought and effort that went into making sure everything was easily accessible.” Refrigeration, strainers, fuel filters, generator, and pumps are all at an arm’s reach.

Djinn’s engine room provides ample space and easy accessibility.
