Refit & Restoration

““It was so much fun. If I were ten years younger, I’d apply for a job there.”

Bruce Bennett, Come From Away

Our

Ethos

When a boat comes to us for refitting and/or restoration, we equally consider the history and the future of the boat along with the client’s needs. Will they be day sailing or living aboard? Will they be racing? Is sustainability important? We ask all the questions to ensure a thorough job is done.

After we’ve assessed the needs of both client and boat, we create a plan that will deliver the job on time and within budget, a standard we work hard to meet everyday.

“They have tested business practices to deliver what was commissioned on time and for the agreed cost. While not the lowest cost, by far the best value.“

Ron Zarrella, Blackfish

Refit vs. Restoration

Restoration work focuses on bringing a boat back to its original condition and design, but can sometimes include updating of systems.

Refitting mainly refers to updating a boat’s systems- mechanical, rigging, or electrical- so a boat can continue to perform optimally.

Most work performed on used boats at Brooklin Boat Yard combines both restoration and refitting.

“I’ve worked with a lot of boat yards, and Brooklin Boat Yard is the most professional I’ve ever dealt with. Nick was articulate, and he understood the importance of the boat’s legacy to my family. They’re exceptional.”
