Goshawk 2005

Goshawk

This 76’ Spirit of Tradition sloop was built by Brooklin Boat Yard and launched in 2005 just in time to participate in the Centennial running of the Marblehead to Halifax Race where she garnered line honors (1st to finish) in IRC Class. The following year Goshawk took part in the Newport to Bermuda Race in which she placed 2nd in the highly competitive St. David’s Lighthouse Trophy class.

After this successful foray into ocean racing, Goshawk’s first owner kept closer to home here on the Maine coast mostly day sailing and cruising but entering into the occasional race like the Eggemoggin Reach Regatta and the double-handed Rocks Race usually with podium finishes.

Under her second owner, Goshawk kept a fairly low profile with occasional appearances on race courses before being stored for several years and finally being acquired by her current (3rd) owner and changing her name to Zemphira.

Under her current ownership, Goshawk was renamed and (new name- Zemphira) has been updated and upgraded with an eye towards increased performance. This effort has been rewarded with multiple podium finishes for the 2022 New England sailing season in events like Boothbay Harbor Yacht Club Regatta, Camden Classics Cup, Opera House Cup and other regattas.
