About the artist:
Katherine Messenger is a graphic designer and illustrator in Blue Hill, Maine. She specializes in the creation and management of custom projects. For companies as well as individuals, Katherine has made maps, invitation suites, books, illuminated letters, journals, and much more. When she isn’t drawing or designing, Katherine also works as an editor.
At the end of last year, Katherine launched a line of illustrated goods under her new brand, Independent Puppy, and this is her first summer making products and selling them in stores. Most of these goods are inspired by life here in Maine, such as a sticker of a pint of lowbush blueberries or a tea towel with merrily swimming loons. All her artwork is made by hand with pen and watercolor, and aids such as Photoshop and Illustrator are used only to finish the art for design purposes.
